Our Story
TEAM BEHIND WONDER KIDS
Wonder Kids is the brainchild of a band of Zurich and Aargau-based mothers. While raising our own children we have each found that the creative approach to learning is always the one which goes down like a spoonful of sugar. We decided to create a program which would foster these skills in an educational and creative manner. As working mums trying to find the right balance between our commitment to our children and our professional responsibilities, we also know how challenging it is to find extracurricular activities which also fit into our own demanding schedules. This is why we decided to bring so many diverse activities under one roof. Check out our posts, videos here: www.facebook.com/Art.Storytelling.Science.Dance/

Nayana Chakrabarti-Bhattacharya is a Native English speaker and a teacher of English language and literature. She studied MA Cantab (Tripos), MA London and PGCE, UK. Storytelling and Creative Writing are her twin passions. She lives in Zurich with her husband, 6 year old boy and
a 2 year old daughter.
Nayana will lead the Wonder Kids team with 'Tall Tales and Story Mails'. The workshop will be divided into two chapters, ‘Tall Tales’. Children of all ages are welcome to attend Chapter One which will always consist of a storytelling party alongside edutainment activities which introduce children to new vocabulary, the concept of narration, narrative devices, inference, deduction and ‘reading-between-the-lines’ (the critical components of reading comprehension). The evolving reading list has been painstakingly curated from the best that children’s literature has to offer internationally. Chapter Two, ‘Story Mails’ is best suited for older children (six and above) who have the basic skills required to form letters and write simple words in English. This workshop is devoted to bringing out each child’s inner author. Children will be taken on an exciting journey through different writing forms and over the course of the year, will be given the opportunity to create a complete piece of work which will then be published on Kindle enter various writing competitions and be published on Story Mails’ inaugral creative writing magazine.

Richa Chauhan, who is a physicist, always believed learning is possible only when you feel it with experiments. After completing her PhD from University of Basel and a post doc from ETH Zurich, Richa now works in a company as an expert on lasers. She knows only too well that kids are born inquisitive. She wants to give them an easy platform to transform their eagerness into creative fun experiments. She lives in Dietikon with her husband and 7 year old son.
Richa will lead the Wonder Kids team with 'The Network of Science', where she will help nurture their curiosity with fun experiments based on the fundamental scientific concepts with the help of simple things available at home. The phenomenon active behind the experiments will also be explained to introduce the magic of science to the kids in a fun way. All of your child’s curious questions will be answered with pleasure.

Dancing is a highly physical activity and it increases child's flexibility, range of motion, physical strength and stamina. Dance lessons can help children improve their social and communication skills, learn how to work as part of a team, develop a greater sense of trust and cooperation and make new friends. If your child is shy, enrolling her in dance can encourage her to reach out to other children her age and help to reduce her anxiety about new people or places. Dance can also help to alleviate fears related to performing in front of an audience. As children adjust to the movements and postures required in dance, they begin to get a better sense of their bodies. As they become more comfortable in their own skin, their confidence and self-esteem also improve.
